Obituaries

Frances Williams Knapp ('31), 98, died November 10, 2010 at her residence in Mooresville, NC, where she had moved to be close to her family. She was born in Peddler Mills, VA, resided in Mexico, NY during her childhood and graduated from Nottingham High School, class of 1931. She was a 1935 graduate of Syracuse University and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was a member of St. Albans Church, Syracuse and a longtime resident of DeWitt, NY, most recently at Nottingham Residential Community. Her husband, Robert, died in 1968. Surviving are two sons, Robert E. Jr. (Arlene), Pinehurst, NC, David of Richmond, VA; and daughter, Elizabeth Bectol (Patrick) of Cornelius, NC

Jane B. McLeod (’31), 96, of Jamesville, died May 30, 2009. She was a member of the Corinthian Club, Syracuse University Alumnae Association, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Association, and a charter member of Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her brother W. Craig Bradley of Skaneateles.

Mary Catherine Dixson Deal (’31) died in September 2008 at the age of 95. She was a high school English teacher and librarian. Married James Allen Deal who owned Deal Florist. She had two daughters, Susan Hunt Deal (‘66) and Margo Tracey Deal Erickson. Spent her life in service to her community. She liked to say her idea of heaven was a baked potato with a pound of butter!
