Nancy Setright Grove (’39) wrote that her older brother Jim graduated in 1935 and was no doubt one of the blurry guys in the back row of the picture we printed in 2006 of the Class of 1935. Her sister Ann Setright Mercer was in the class of ’48 and her younger brother Jack was in the class of ’42.
Stan Barnes (’39) remembers fondly playing hockey with Gordy MacRae on Seeley Road. Stan attended SU, rowed on the crew team and rang the Crouse chimes, and after the Air Corps graduated from Yale. He is a former school principal, happily married for 64 years.

Mrs. Barbara Klock
Skvarch, 88, of 1403 Osborne Dr., Burlington, N.C. died Monday,
June 29, 2009 peacefully at 9 a.m. at her home after a long
illness. Barbara, a Syracuse, New York native, graduated from
Nottingham High School and earned her Bachelor's degree from
Syracuse University where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa
Gamma Sorority. She is survived by her husband of 63 years,
William R. Skvarch from Dunellen, N.J. Also surviving are her
six children, William R. Jr., James A., Peter K., Katherine
Stieb, Michael J., and Therese' Palen. She has thirteen
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She has one sister,
Patricia Ziegler of Brookfield, Conn.; and several nephews,
nieces and cousins. Barbara was active in the Altar and Rosary
Society at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Onondaga Hill where
she was the secretary for many years. She also worked on the
Bingo team on Friday nights. She was active in the Girl Scouts
of America and made several tours as a Den Mother for the Cub
Scouts. She was a member of the Garden Club of Onondaga Hill and
a golfer at Tuscarora Country Club. Barbara logged over a
thousand hours of volunteer work at the Van Dyne Home and
Hospital. She was a member of the Central New York Pilot's
Association and logged many, many hours as a co-pilot. She
instigated "family camping" which ultimately led to the family
building a camp on Lake Eaton, N.Y. in the Adirondacks. Prior to
her marriage in 1946, she was an airline stewardess for American
Airlines. In later years, she became very active in the Kiwi
Organization (retired AA Stewardesses) in Syracuse. After moving
to Florida, she founded the Southwest Florida Kiwi organization
of Naples, FL. She also became secretary for the Council of
Catholic Women at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in
Naples, FL.
Robert H. Steele (’39), 86, of Fayetteville, died April 9, 2009. He served with the US Army during WWII. He was the CEO of Brace-Mueller-Huntley, Inc. and later was employed by Burlingame Realty. He was active in community affairs and was president of the Citizens Foundation from 1956 – 1957. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, three sons, and several grandchildren.
Ann Kinney Rossell (’47), 77, of Westport, CT, died March 24, 2007. She worked in TV, in front of the camera and as a copywriter. She was also a newspaper columnist. She was active in the Westport community. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Warren Rossell (’39), four children, and ten grandchildren.
William Miller Allen (’39), 85, of Delphi Falls, died April 18, 2007, in Vermont. He was an engineer and retired from GE in 1984. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed volunteering at Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, and several grandchildren.
Pauline Rosenthal Share (’41), 82, died March 4, 2006, of complications due to a stroke. She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Alan (’39); her children: Steven (’71), Susan (’72), Harlan (’76), Ira (‘78) and Hugh (’79).
