William
D. Weisberg ('49), 80, of Manlius, died Monday, August
22, 2011 at Menorah Park. He was born in Oneida on March 30,
1931 to the late Frieda and Herbert Weisberg. The family moved
to Syracuse in 1948. Bill attended Manlius Military Academy,
Nottingham High School and graduated from Syracuse University in
1953 with a degree in advertising. He then graduated from
Syracuse University College of Law in 1956 and practiced law in
Canandaigua. NY for one year before relocating to Syracuse. In
1959, Bill opened his law practice in Syracuse. Through his
initiative, the ability for attorneys to advertise in the
"Yellow Pages" and on television became a reality. His legal
area of expertise was mortgage banking and he represented
several national and local banks. Bill was a member of Temple
Adath Yeshurun, Philo-Mt. Sinai Masonic Lodge, TEP social
fraternity, Phi Delta Theta legal fraternity, and the Onondaga
County and New York State Bar Associations. Bill was predeceased
by his daughter, Nancy Weisberg. Survived by his wife of 52
years, Jean Yunker Weisberg; son, Richard Weisberg; daughter,
Deborah (David) Krusch; and grandchildren, Stephanie and twins
Elizabeth and Daniel Krusch.
Marjorie A. Hewitt Svedman (’49), 79, of Manlius, NY, died December 21, 2009. A homemaker, she volunteered with several organizations and was an avid bowler and golfer. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald, one daughter, two sons, sisters Connie Cutler and Dorothy Hewitt, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Peter R. Haswell (’49), 78, of Kure Beach, NC, died September 12, 2009. A veteran of the US Army, he was a senior executive at Sawyer Industries for many years. He is survived by his wife, Janice, several children and stepchildren, many grandchildren, and his sister Claire Rudolph.
