Reunion

Volunteers are needed to work on a 60th reunion for the class of 1950.
Reunion will be Columbus Day weekend October 8,9,10, and maybe 11.
Will include visit to our NHS (now called Levy) on Friday Oct 8, Dinner at Wall of Fame at Drumlins on Saturday Oct 9 so far.

Eight Nottingham alumni are scheduled to be honored at the third annual Wall of Fame induction ceremony on October 11. They include Dr. Fred Roberts (’35), Quentin Kopp (’48), Nancy Knapp McCarty (’50), J. Sehl Burns (’62), Ben Burtt (’66), Tony Trischka (’66), Dr. Steven Galson (’74), and Dr. Nancy Andrews (’76).

Robert Coye (’50) was named Senior Citizen of the Year by the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth. Robert, a retired teacher with BOCES, resides in Syracuse. He is also a retired part-time architect. He is involved with many community activities.

Obituaries

Berneice “Bunni” Powers Dain (’50), 77, of Cazenovia, died November 15, 2009. At Nottingham Berneice participated in many extracurricular activities. She was always active in her community. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, seven children, nine grandchildren, one greatgrandson, and sister Charlotte.

Kathleen S. Fitzpatrick (’50), 77, of Syracuse, died February 12, 2009. She was an avid follower of politics and a talented sketch artist and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and music. She devoted most of her efforts toward raising her five children. She is survived by four of her children and eight grandchildren.

Harold H. Greenleaf, Jr. (’50), 75, died July 26, 2007, in Syracuse. He was the retired president of Greenleaf Funeral Home, Inc. He was a member of several professional associations and volunteered at the Elmwood Interfaith Food Pantry. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and two stepgrandsons.

Midge O’Connor Caswell ('50), 78, of DeWitt, passed away Monday,May 10, 2010, at Crouse Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Syracuse to her parents, M. Paul and Helen O'Connor. Midge was a graduate of Nottingham High School, class of 1950. Midge then attended Syracuse University and and received her bachelor's degree in home economics, in 1954 and her master's, in 1956. She then went on to teach at the Onondaga Road School and both the middle and high schools at Jamesville DeWitt. She was a faithful communicant of St. Therese Church (now All Saints parish) and taught religious education for 25 years. While in college, Midge was a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority and served in their alumni activities. She was also heavily involved in the St. Thomas Moore Foundation. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, John Joseph Jr. in 1979 and a brother, Richard P. O'Connor. She is survived by her husband, John Joseph; a sister, Barbara (Leonard) O'Connor Hayes; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday 9:30 a.m. at the Burns-Garfield Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at All Saints Parish on Lancaster Ave. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 3175 E. Genesee St. Contributions may be made to one's favorite charity. Jerry Sanford Benson, 73, died June 7, 2006, in Syracuse. He graduated from the University of Michigan, where he was president of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Burns Benson, and they were blessed with 51 years of happiness. Mr. Benson retired as the president of Burns Supply Company, where he worked for 40 years, and also was the president of MARNANDI Realty Corporation until recently. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Burns Benson (’50), four children, and 14 grandchildren./p>
