Obituaries

Carol J. (Osborne) Sears ('57), 71, of Fayetteville, NY, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse, NY, she was a 1957 graduate of Nottingham High School, attended the College of St. Rose and graduated from Nazareth College. Carol was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. She enjoyed her memberships in Ladies of the Lake Book Club in Skaneateles, NY, the Fayetteville Garden Club, the Century Club, the Skaneateles Country Club, her "Mixed Nuts" bridge club in Skaneateles and her bridge club at the Century Club. Carol was predeceased by her father, Thomas. Survivors include her mother, Dororthy Osborne (nee Geiger) of Fayetteville; her son, James Sears of Frenchtown, NJ; two daughters, Ellen (Peter) Rayhill of New Hartford, NY, and Amy (Phil) Nichols of Philadelphia, PA; nine grandchildren, Julia, Hannah, Peter, Catherine, James and Edward Rayhill, and Thomas, Hilyard and Browning Nichols; and several nieces and nephews

Roberta (Bobbie) Badaines King (’54), 72, died April 3, 2009, in the tragic shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton. She taught English as a second language there. Bobbie taught in Syracuse before moving to Binghamton in 1966. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Abraham Aaron King. She is survived by ten children, a sister, Eleanor Schwartzberg (‘57), of Phoenix AZ, and a brother Joel Badaines of Sydney, Australia.

Melvyn Goldberg (’57) died in February 2008. He lived in San Jose CA
